Meet the people behind our people-powered learning company

Since Elsie has a brand new name and a brand new look, you’ve been hearing from us a bit more than usual—so, we wanted to take a moment to introduce ourselves.

We’re Elizabeth and James Beales, the wife-and-husband duo who serve as Elsie’s CEO and COO, respectively. We’re two of the people who are helping this company grow, improve, and power learning experiences across the globe.

What we do at Elsie

Since stepping into these roles in 2021, we have worked hard to enlist the most talented producers and facilitators to design and produce events that are engaging, even as they are delivered to thousands of participants. This includes live, large-format virtual conferences and accessibility adaptations for off-the-shelf programming—and just about everything in between.

We dig in beforehand and behind-the-scenes to develop dynamic content, use the right technology, and present in ways that are interesting and interactive. This is key to participants retaining what they learn and leaving inspired.

Above everything else, we are always looking for ways to be better leaders and learners ourselves.

How we approach leadership at Elsie

But our roles go well beyond engineering virtual and in-person events for global brands. And we think this is the most important part of our job: to make sure our company takes care of people both inside and outside the learning environment.

The two of us zealously believe in offering the flexibility and support people need to live their whole lives—with zero apology. We want to provide a pathway to meaningful work and opportunities while being sensitive to individual circumstances.

Our approach to the workplace is guided by compassion and humanity. Because when people lead with these values and when companies are structured in this way, everyone wins. From single and homeschooling parents to students with classes to attend to actors with rehearsal schedules, more people can find ways to make a living while being able to do other things that matter to them.

We treat people this way because it’s the right thing to do. But, along the way, we’ve learned that when our team members have the autonomy to focus on what’s important to them, they are happier and better at their jobs.

Key accomplishments at Elsie

Before we sign off, we couldn’t help but share a few of Elsie’s—and our Village’s—milestones that we’re most proud of. These are the moments that make our hearts swell because they demonstrate that people, especially those who have been historically underserved, are thriving:

  • Elsie is female founded, woman-owned, and women-led with seven of the eight members of our leadership team identifying as female or non-binary.
  • Companies like Elsie are directly contributing to the global Human Resources shift, taking a more holistic approach to L&D and how corporations are supporting professionals. We’re proud to foster knowledge, emotional, and interpersonal development as important job skills.
  • By propelling virtual learning opportunities, we are making professional development (and, with that, career growth) more accessible and less burdensome to people.

Thank you for allowing us to share a bit more about ourselves and our rationale for the way we operate Elsie. At the end of the day, this company is all about people—the people in our Village and the people we serve.

Now, we would love to learn a bit more about you. Drop us a line anytime.
